Artwork Checklist

Design specifications

Our cards are 86mm x 54mm (3.385’’ x 2.125’’) with rounded corners with a corner radius of 3mm (0.118’’) as shown in the diagram. The plastic cards are credit card sized as standard. The templates in our download center use accurate dimensions and specifications to ensure the ideal use of the bleed and design area.

Bleed and Safe Design Area

We can reproduce designs that bleed right to the edge of the card in any ink. We request a 3mm bleed in cases where the ink needs to run to the very edge of the card. Please allow for at least a 1/16” bleed in the design of your card which will be printed off the edge (see: templates). A bleed makes sure that the background covers the card completely and consistently. The 1/8” margin around the inside edge of the card is the “Buffer”. This area may experience some minor variation in the die-cutting process so please do not include any important images or information here.

Resolution (Incase of photo images only)

If you are using a photo manipulation software (Photoshop, Paintshop, Gimp) then please create the design using 600 dpi. In case of line work or flat colors as in most frosted cards and you are using a vector software (Illustrator, Draw) then there are no resolution settings.

File Formats

Our preferred file formats are .cdr, .psd (layered) and .ai. However, we do accept high quality .jpg .pdf .eps and .tiff files also as long as the file fits the required dimensions. For clear or frosted plastic cards, we must have the layered .psd, .ai, or .eps.

Fonts & Images

We like to use a minimum of 7.5pt font size with regular weight sans serif fonts (Futura, Arial, Century Gothic etc) and 8pt with regular weight serif fonts (Garamond, Times New Roman, Century etc). Using smaller fonts can result in a problem called ‘filling in’, where characters like ‘a’ and ‘e’ do not form correctly. Please include images (links) and fonts with the files. If you’re using Mac based fonts, they must be rasterized or converted to outlines depending on the software used.
